THE 24TH MIDYEAR FEDERATION CLIMB & PRESIDENT’S MEETING

As the host club of the 24th MFPI Midyear Federation Climb and Presidents’ Meeting in the province of Tarlac on October 21-24, 2009, with the theme “Paduyduy Hen a Tarlac”, UPORG wants you to be with us and enjoy the different outdoor activities we have prepared for you. Paduyduy is a thanksgiving ritual being practiced by the Aeta and the Abelling before harvested bounty are consumed.

Besides promoting responsible mountaineering and introducing new outdoor havens, the 2009 midyear congress aims to establish appreciation of indigenous culture and skills, while promoting eco-tourism. Also, it intends to encourage the usage of mountaineers’ outdoor agility and expertise in helping our less-served brothers and sisters in the mountainous areas that we frequently visit in our own hometown. Now we have our own adaptation of Paduyduy.

You can choose and have a taste of the following activities:

Mt. Pinatubo Hike
Mt. Bungkol Baka Hike
Trail Biking
Waterfalls Day Hike
Jungle Survival Clinic
Water Activities
“Paduyduy” Forum
Basecamp Games
5km Trail Running Race
Bird Watching & Lecture (tentative)
Photo Contest
Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC)

You can select and register as many activities as you want but please refer to the general schedule of activities to avoid time conflict. All the activities are definitely enjoyable, relevant, and have a slight distinctness from the usual midyear congress. To help you decide further, please read the activity descriptions which will be posted completely first week of August.

Registration Fee is P650 for non-MFPI members, and P600 for MFPI active member clubs/IM. A P50 discount more awaits those who will be registering on or before August 31, 2009.
